2013 Annual Members Meeting

  Please join us September 10th for our Annual Members Meeting.. The Board has quite a few exciting changes requiring your vote, and we are offering a fun, healthy cooking demo. We also encourage you to contribute a favorite dish to our "Potluck on the Porch", please email Board Secretary with your dish or if you have questions. We look forward to seeing you there!

Dear Slow Food Miami Members and Supporters:

The Annual Members Meeting of the Slow Food Miami Chapter will be held on September 10, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at the Fairchild Tropical Gardens' Visitor Center Ballroom.

This year's meeting is themed a "Potluck on the Porch" and will feature a Local & Healthy short, fun cooking presentation. We encourage you to bring your favorite slow food potluck dish to enjoy after, or to contribute $14 toward "seeds and starts" for our Edible Gardens Program this Fall. Of course, everyone is welcome to attend free of charge, but please do RSVP. This link will allow you to RSVP for free or to RSVP with a pre-set contribution through Brown Paper Tickets. This year, there are a number of directorships that are subject to a vote of the Membership at the Annual Meeting. The Nominating Committee has slated the following persons:

President - Michele Benesch, formerly our Farm to Table Director in charge of the successful Hidden Kitchens and Snail of Approval programs.
Vice President - Lisa Newman, formerly Director of Fundraising Events.
Vice President - Amy Stokes, formerly Director of Corporate Sponsorships.
Treasurer - JJ Snow Hansen, up for a renewal term of her current position.
Secretary - Cristina Jimenez Krislav, up for a renewal term of her current position.
Director of Gardens - Wendy Levitz, up for a renewal term of her current position.
Director of Development - Carol Lopez-Bethel, formerly chairperson of Grants.
Director of Social Events - Luis Robaina, formerly chairperson of the Thighs & Pies event.
Hidden Kitchen Director - Cynthia Seaman
Cookbook Director - JoEllen Strump
Farm Liaison - Melissa Dominguez
Member-at-Large - Hillary Scurtis, formerly Vice President.
Member-at-Large - Sean Reichert, formerly Director of Education.

All of these individuals are currently serving in the positions for which they are slated through interim appointments enacted by the Board. The Nominating Committee considers that each will continue to be an outstanding contributor to the Board. Full biographies are available on the Slow Food Miami website.

For your information, active members only are permitted to vote on member matters at the Meeting. If your membership has lapsed, you may renew online or at the Annual Meeting. If you are unable to attend the Meeting but would like to vote on the slate of Directors, you may cast your vote via email proxy through September 9, 2013 by emailing Cristina Jimenez Krislav, Secretary of the Board at
